Sight word games, made for your child

Sightseed turns this week's sight words into short, playful games with a friendly voice. Every game uses your child's own word list, and many use their name and favorite things too.

The games

Spot the word

Your child hears a word read aloud, then picks it out from a few choices. Look-alike words are added slowly as they get more confident.

Finish the sentence

A short sentence is read aloud with one word missing. Sentences use your child's name and interests, like dinosaurs or soccer, and always use the word for its real meaning.

Missing letter

One letter is missing from a familiar word. Filling it in helps children notice every letter, not just the first one.

Typing practice

Hear a word, then type it. A good fit for kids who love the keyboard and need spelling to stick.

Letter & number direction

For b/d mix-ups and backwards 3s: listen for a letter or number, then pick the one facing the right way.

A garden that grows

Each finished session waters your child's own garden. Flowers and vegetables grow side by side, the bunny hops out to say hello, and practice becomes something kids ask for.

Games that adjust as your child learns

Each session brings back words your child recently found tricky, mixes in words they already know for an easy win, and reviews learned words after a while so they stick. The order changes each time, so it never feels like the same drill.

Parents see which words are Learning, Confident, or Mastered, and which answers came on the first try versus after a hint.

Questions parents ask

What are sight words?
Sight words are common words, like "the", "was" and "said", that children learn to recognize quickly. Many don't follow simple spelling rules, so they take repeated, varied practice.
Can I use my child's teacher's list?
Yes. Type in the words your child's teacher sends home each week. You can also add extra practice from Dolch and Fry starter lists. Teacher words come first.
How long is a session?
About five minutes, ten short rounds. There are no timers. Wrong answers get a kind "Try again. You can do it!", then a hint if they're stuck.
Is it safe and private?
Sightseed has no ads, trackers, chat, or leaderboards. A parent holds the account, and children's profiles have only a first name and grade.

Ready for tonight's practice?
